Bike or drive from bridge to bridge
for a day of celebration and fun. A ceremony to acknowledge the support, effort and cooperation of the many people and agencies that have made this unique preservation project possible will be held at Buskirk’s Bridge, with state and local dignitaries on hand to celebrate the reopenings. From there a procession of antique cars will lead the way to Eagleville and Rexleigh bridges, via the Shushan Covered Bridge Museum, for short ribbon-cutting ceremonies. The day will conclude with a celebratory fair at the Historic Salem Courthouse, an afternoon of music, food, covered bridge art and books, and historic displays. In the evening, Music from Salem will perform Currents of Ecstasy: Bridging Three Centuries through American Music at Hubbard Hall, featuring the music of Stephen Foster, Samuel Barber, Henry Cowell and John Adams. Commemorative T-shirts and signed posters designed by artist Stephen Alcorn, and a souvenir booklet documenting the project will be available for purchase throughout the day.
