experience with a Historic Journey through the Battenkill Valley scheduled for the weekend of October 12-14.

Travel through the Towns and Villages of the Battenkill Valley, stumble upon a treasure, learn about the past, and enjoy the beauty of our region. Come for the day or stay for the weekend. Residents are encouraged to have tag sales and retail merchants are asked to clear out their shelves to prepare for the holiday season. A brief overview of the weekends activities are listed. • Saturday -Walking Tour of the Salem Cemetery with Al Cormier at 1030a and 1p-330p
Al Cormier has been the Salem Town and Village historian since 1984, a retired Salem high school
principal who also taught history and English, and loves to write about local history. The tour is free, but a
donation to the Cemetery wall is most appreciated.
Ted Corbett will be at North Main Gallery 196 N. Main St, Salem from 1130a-1p with his book
"A Home in the Battenkill Valley, The Early Years of Susan B. Anthony," published by the NorthStar
Historical Project.
• Salem Art Works’ Iron Harvest, from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm a fundraiser for the art center. Enjoy an
outdoor luncheon under a tent, featuring local produce and live music, as well as art exhibits and demonstrations

• Underground Walking Tour in Greenwich with Cliff Oliver 1p – Meet at the Monument
For the past 7 years Clifford Oliver has been conducting tours of the homes of the abolitionists in Greenwich. Thanks to his friends at the Greenwich Free Library's Gill Room, Clifford Oliver Mealy has garnered some astounding stories of local and American. Delving into Greenwich's past, it is no wonderthat the only monument in town is dedicated to the veterans of the Civil War. The stories and sights will make you proud to be in an area where American values have always been celebrated. Tour is free, but a donation to NorthStar Historical Project is most appreciated.

Ken Gottry grew up in Cambridge in the 1950's and 60's, moved away after college, returning to his family home on East Main Street in 2002 after a 30-year hiatus. Today, Ken travels around the world solving computer performance issues for major corporations like the Department of Homeland Security and Federal Reserve Bank. Ken's father was village and town historian for 25 years so When Ken is in Cambridge he's usually rummaging around in the village's past or recording the present for future generations. His collection of photos old and new plus lots of other village history can be found at http://CHS.gottry.com Ken’s tour will include stops along the way at Rice Mansion, RR Park, United Presbyterian Church, Avenue A, and the Rice Seed House. Ken will discuss North White Creek (East End) vs. Cambridge Corners (West End), Cambridge Swamp in the middle - Yellow Brick Road, Cambridge Hotel vs. Union House 1885, Shunpike vs Turnpike, Fairgrounds on Avenue A, Cambridge 3800 years ago.
